Another year in the ‘Sphere for many writers, turnover, additions, subtractions. Here’s a few of my favorite posts from 2012:
Red Pill Room: The Girlfriend Experience. Ian coined a new term for married bedroom antics: The Girlfriend Experience (GFE). Can’t believe this was posted all the way back in July and quickly gained traction and attention.
MMSL usually has good stuff. I thought the two posts relating married attraction and self improvement to the four quadrants of Covey’s 7 Habits book stood out as something that needed to be hit again. You have Part 1: Being Attractive is a Daily Discipline and Part 2: Effort in Quadrant Two Powers Attraction.
M3 came on the scene and had good stuff to start, but he shook things up by his raw, emotional and electrically bitter post Confessions of a Reformed Incel. (Involuntary Celibacy) which saw wide, wide circulation and attention.
I probably check out Hawaiian Libertarian more than nearly every site since his blogroll is top notch. He writes usually once a week, sometimes more, sometimes less. Paleo Baby from 2011 was great along with his 2012 follow-up Paleo Toddler, but I also really liked his post on Beyond the Breaking Point about pushing his boundaries while boar hunting and a gym-rat friend who gave up.
Like all of us, Danger and Play has some hits and misses, but I still remember his Building Your Crew post about getting the anchors (that bring you down) out of your life. I’ve linked to it in the past and is a reminder to shape the social circle to be positive.
On the Rock had many great posts this year. Some favorites included Being a Husband and Being a Wife. A refresher course for all of us married folks, if you will.
Jacquie has had some great posts this year (as a woman ‘sphere blogger), and wrote when it suited her fancy so if you didn’t catch everything I’m right there with you. The end of the year one (Life, Love and Adjustments) hit pretty hard and is about life with and without your longtime partner and dealing with the loss of a parent (with kids growing up to boot). I too think about the years past and years future with Holly, and how we’ve woven our lives together like the movies Big Fish or The Notebook
(hey girl : hyperlink just for Holly…inside joke).
The always entertaining Matt Forney is a regular on my lists to check out, I liked his The Organic Food Section: Not Just for Hippies Anymore as it lists a most of the natural supplements that our family takes. Link since broken, Matt’s site is: MattForney.com
If you’ve been following Ponyboy, you know he’s a good shit (LOVE the rant posts, would read a blog of just those…). Anyway, you know he’s got young kids (just like me) that are born to cockblock. If you followed this year, you know there were some pretty dry times (like here and here, some older stuff, always funny), that’s what makes this one at the end of the year make it all seem worthwhile. Also, his Manscaping post is solid advice. A personal note: thanks for the advice, man, when making the transition to an outlet for all to see. Ponyboy left the blog world after this post was written.
Checking out Red Pill Wifey is like reading the daily paper, so picking one post out of all is difficult. It thought the first one: The Red Pill Tastes Like Shit is a good revisit to a wife just starting the journey and a husband who’s just starting to tell the difference from their ass and a hole in the ground (no offense Mook_Z, I love ya man and that’s intended to be funny, things have obviously changed a lot since that was first written back in August).
New Bea is a new one on the scene since October. Another Red Pill woman. I like the post Renovation Reality that hits on key points of good and bad marriages, and recognizes that her marriage is being renovated as well. Her latest Date Night post shows how far they’ve come in a short time.
Dalrock’s Romance 101: How to Stop Frustrating Your Wife is a good intro to Red Pill marriage stuff.
For my own… it’s interesting to gauge reaction or “hits” to any particular posts. Posts thrown together without much thought (like Wesley and Dread Pirate Roberts and Bacon) seem to get tons of hits, while writings I thought were especially poignant got limited hits or comments. Anyway, some of my own favorites this year:
As always, thanks for the links! I am always humbled.
Also, thanks so much for your support over the last year. Great to know there is someone in your corner who gets what’s going on.
Thanks for the link!
My whiniest post, lol… At least I’ve lost 7lbs since then.
Nice! Progress, and with twins! Can’t imagine how much “fun” that is!
One is standing already (8 months), and the other isn’t too far off. Double the falling down and crying!
I just about fell out of my chair:) Thanks for the link!
I love reading your blog. There are so many times that I point your blog out to Levi and say: Is this what you think too and he agrees…really helps me figure him out since he is not much of a talker:)
Hope you have a great New Year!
Thanks all I linked and those I didn’t (too many to list). You’ve all brought a lot of insight, ideas, and smiles to my life in 2012. Have a great new year!
Thanks so much for the links!
You, sir, are no longer allowed to play in my sand box. Please take your ball and go home.
Good list! I definately need to check those out…
Captain P
Thank you for the link. Happiness and blessings for the New Year to you and Holly and your family.
