I’ve been following Danger and Play for awhile now, but only recently started listening to Mike Cernovich’s podcasts. I listen to a lot of podcasts, as I’ve talked about before. Mostly on self improvement or interesting topics, like James Altucher’s Ask Altucher, Dr. Chrisopher Ryan’s Tangentially Speaking, and of course Joe Rogan. Mike’s podcast is right up there in content and information.
As you know, learning and self-improvement is a big part of my life, and Mike has a lot of similar values as me. Ive talked about mindset, visualization, positive thinking, health, and money over the years. So I bought his book on Kindle over the weekend. The Gorilla Mindset book captures all this and more into a concise, easy to read book. The book doesn’t take long to get through, but could take a whole life if you wanted to implement some of the practices contained there in. Setting goals, visualization exercises, and posture exercises are just a few parts of the book. I picked up a number of new concepts on how posture impacts our life and testosterone production. I learned about more supplements that may help with some of my specific health and wellness issues.
Another thing from the book I hope to flesh out into a full post at some point, is contrast showers. This is where you alternate between normal/hot shower and ice cold shower. Since I heard Mike talk about this in his podcast, and read more in his book, I’ve been doing them probably 2 out of 3 days, and I tell you what, they make you feel alive and are a great way to start the day. Joe Rogan has had great podcasts with various doctors or scientists who have talked about the benefits of both hot and cold therapy, and Rogan himself does cryotherapy
The cold shower is a way to get many of these benefits for free, besides simply having the balls to do it.
I listen, read, and learn about Gorilla Mindset ideas nearly every day from a variety of sources, but for those that don’t want to spend 100’s of hours doing this, Gorilla Mindset is a quick and easy way to digest these concepts. Then it is simply (or not so simply as is the reality) incorporate these thoughts and ideas into your life. But Mike sets you up for success, hopefully you can walk through the door.
I’ve added Danger and Play to my blogroll, and while it’s not for everyone, I like many of his messages and have even started doing some juicing because of Mike, so check it out to see if he’s a daily read. [EDIT TO ADD: I have no affiliation with Danger and Play, and don’t know Mike Cernovich. However, I do appreciate people who provide free content that I learn or benefit from, as they should be recognized for this service. Mike seem’s like one of the good guys and is helping a lot of dudes IMO.]
