We took the family to the Lego Movie this weekend. I loved Legos growing up and my kids are following in my wake, especially six year old Loudboy who is Master Builder.
The movie itself was really well done, has been getting great reviews on Rotten Tomatoes and similar, and has a lot of humor that adults will enjoy too. The message in the movie is that you need to balance being a rule follower versus using your own ingenuity and inner calling to find happiness. The Everything is Awesome song is infectious and we’ve been singing it all weekend. The idea that you can manifest positive things from inside and be awesome is one of the key concepts of the movie as well.
Holly has grabbed on to that theme over the weekend, watching a Netflix Movie about The Secret. The concept of the book and documentary style movie is that you can manifest positive things by thinking positively – the Law of Attraction. You stop thinking about things you don’t want, don’t desire (I don’t want to be fat, I don’t want to work at my current job, I don’t want to be unhappy anymore) and instead focus on what you want in very specific ways. Basically, by using those things you want as an in-your-face driving force will result in that motivation making minute or large changes that will then allow you to get what you want and allow the universe to attract those things to you (or something like that). We’re going to be checking out the book from the library, so may have more thoughts on this, but it seemed like all she could talk about this weekend.
While our life tends to be pretty awesome as it stands, the focus again is more on positive goals and desires, and working toward attracting or attaining those instead of getting mired down in negativity. I notice that some people in our lives tend to focus so much on other people instead of themselves, comparing themselves to others, bad-mouthing others and gossiping about them. They carry with them an aura of drama and negative energy, and usually these people manifest unhappiness, poor life choices, and are always the victim.
Energy, whether positive or negative, tends to attract the same. If you’ve worked in an environment where morale is low, leadership isn’t strong and things are negative, you know it is like a cancer and spreads quickly to most. I’ve been there and it was an energy drain to go into work. Alternatively, if you can help to create a positive environment with great energy, you’ll see most people will reflect that and harness their own positive energy thereby raising the positive vibe even higher. My current office situation is like that now, and is something that I’m certainly helping to facilitate as one of the leaders.
So people, tell yourself Everything is Awesome and make it happen!
